My parents toy poodle (miniature poodle) is clearly in her final stage of life. She has had epilepsy all her life and about 5 years ago had glaucoma in one eye and had to have it removed.. now the other eye that was “healthy” has sunken into her head and it literally looks like she has a empty eye socket. So she is completely blind, walks around in circles all day, vomits when she drinks water, hardly eats, coughs, gags and has no quality of life. Mum made the decision yesterday to put her down today after what feels like over a year of us kids telling her it needs to happen and then this morning, my dad decides that it’s too hard for him to handle so they aren’t doing it.
My parents have never been like this when putting a pet down. They grew up on a farm and my dad has had to put a lot of pets down but now they can’t handle taking a pet to the vet to get euthanised, which I’m sure is a lot more humane. My parents are in their 60s and have got very emotional in their old age but they need to not be selfish otherwise their dog is going to suffer a horrible death.
I don’t know what to do, if I take her to the vet myself they will hate me.
