How to deal with a cat's jealousy?

We have a mongrel cat at home. My son found her near the trash can when she was a kitten, and only he took care of her. This cat is very devoted to him, and only he's allowed to caress her. She only sleeps in his room, eats what Lucas gives her, and is always near when my son is home. She prefers to stay away from the rest of our family. And although she's not aggressive, she doesn't allow anyone to touch her.

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine asked me to look after her dog, a charming Pomeranian. Our whole family was fascinated by this baby except our cat. She kept her distance, and everything seemed fine until one morning, we woke up from loud squeals. The cat pushed the dog under the bed in the living room and didn't allow him to come out. She growled at him worse than a dog, and when Lucas tried to approach her, she began to growl at him too. Lucas managed to take her away and locked her in his room.

After my friend took her dog, this ball of fur began to piss on all my son's things and began to growl at my husband and me every time we enter Lucas's room. She doesn't allow my son to approach her, although she still asks him for food and sleeps in his room. The veterinarian said that this is jealousy, and it'll pass over time. But more than two weeks have passed, and nothing changed.

My son bought her a personalized pillow similar. He decided to bribe her, hoping she'll calm down.

But this fluffy stinker tore the pillow apart in a few minutes and pissed on his sneakers. I had to throw them away because even after washing, the smell didn't disappear. I'm tired of her performances, and I'm thinking of taking her to a pet shelter, although my son opposes it when I mention it. Does anyone know how long such behavior will last? Are there any ways to calm her down?
