My roommate's cat bites me hard enough to bleed once a week

I need help with my roommate's cat.

When I moved in a year ago, the owner often would play with the cat roughly with her hands. The owner would hold the cat against the owner's chest until the cat bit or clawed itself away. The owner would hold the cat in the air by the cat's belly until it struggled (thrashed) enough to getaway.

Since I have moved in I have forced my roommate to stop playing with the cat with hands, and the other behavior has stopped as far as I know. But the cat still is pretty violent with me. The owner says it's normal for cats to bite and I think she kinda doesn't, believe that it's as bad as it is. The cat seems to be gentler with the owner. However, most days I interact with the cat I end up bleeding in some way.

This morning the cat laid down on me/ my computer. Cat was laying on my forearm so I couldn't type. I was using my left arm for the whole keyboard, which caused me to float my arm above the cats head. At that point the cat bit me and drew blood.

I just don't know what to do with this cat. I don't know how to get the cat to stop. Once it bites, I don't know what to do. I understand cats don't understand punishments, but I have the urge to pin the cat down and yell at it (assert dominance). It's a cute cat but I am so angry. When it tries to cuddle with me, I am scared of moving her or touching her. I just don't ever know what action is going to cause an issue.

I also don't know what to do about the owner. I told her about the bite this morning, and she admitted that she doesn't know how to fix the problem, but doesn't seem like she is going to take any initiative in solving anything. Recently, as a way to push her to take action, I told her that if the cat ended up in a shelter for any reason, they would have to put the cat down due to how violent the cat is. The owner thought I was just being rude.

I really appreciate any thoughts.
