Hello, I'm posting this because I am looking just for some outside perspective from the anyone who has raised pet turtles. My girlfriend has been raising her two turtles for almost a decade, cleans the tank, changes the water takes incredible care of her turtles. Sadly a few months ago, she lost one due to septaceamia (we don't know where or how the infection happened). Her surviving turtle appeared fine for weeks after the untimely death of it's sibling but she too started showing signs of it on her shell.
My girlfriend has taken her surving turtle to a vet who specializes in these type of animals and is considered a top tier vet. The turtle has had multiple rounds of antibiotics (each round being several shots over a period of weeks) and each time the marks on the shell do disappear but shortly after the round is completed the infection comes back. I am curious to know if anyone has ever experienced this type of situation, and if so did you ever discover the source? How long did your turtle have to have treatment?
