I have an 11 year old chihuahua mix who I rescued about two years ago now. She always snored and snorted so her getting a little winded was never abnormal. She’s also been to the vet a couple mo the ago and had imaging and blood work done for a tooth cleaning and removal that went well. Lately (the last 2-3 weeks) she’s been having these episodes where she will shriek /yelp and lay there almost “stuck” with her eyes and mouth open making tiny twitching movements. It lasts around 30 seconds and when I pick her up, she comes out of it. This has happened at least three times. The worst was tonight when it sounded like she was gasping for air. Her kennel pad was wet with drool, she was limp when I picked her up, and it took her over a minute to wake up/ come out of it. Afterwards she was thirsty and wobbling around like she was drunk. I’m waiting until her vet opens to try snd get her in in the morning but I am wondering if anyone here possibly experienced this before with their small dogs? I just want to know what I should be prepared for. Thank you.
