TL:DR. My kitten sleeps or stares off into space and is not affectionate in the least. Ultra aloof. Will she change? Any chance of a relationship possible? Or am I just living with an eating and pooping stuffed animal.
(Sorry kinda long....but details right? Lol)
Its Me and my girlfriend in a 2 bedroom okay sized apartment. Kitten is 6 months old. Had her for 4 months now already spayed when I got her. Besides the first week home, she has never come to me to cuddle.. ever. Can pet her for 2 seconds maximum, then she walks away. Not even runs away. Never even asks me for food. She will literally starve instead of come up to me and beg for food. Its like she has the equivalent of human ADHD? Like she just forgets whats happening in the moment. If I "GIVE" her food or treats she'll scarf it down. But won't really ask for it. Maybe 1-2 very quiet meows then will leave if I dont get it to her fast enough. like " Oh your not gonna give me food right this second? Oh well I don't need it, I ain't gonna beg or rub up on you". She's not aggressive at all doesnt tear up furniture. She uses cat scratch post luckily. I give her space and let her call the shots, and if too much "nothing" has gone by I'll slowly approach her in a loving way (slow and low)..but nothing or she uninterestedly walks away. The only thing she seems interested in is play. Which I give her enough until she is tired or bored of it. Maybe adds up to around 3 times, 20 mins a day. Then back to staring off into space or sleeping. I feel like I built zero bonding points from it. She will jump on the table when we are eating and sniff the food. Doesnt even try to steal a bite or lick, just sniffs and looks. Waits until we try to per her or talk nice to her then she leaves. She literally has no interest in us. Everything is there too. Food, toys, towers, love, daily litter scoop, etc. At the shelter i didn't do too much vetting and basically picked the first kitten that was like, "hmm she's cute, she'll do". Even there she showed no interest in me. Not sure why I pulled the trigger but I did. Im really hoping she changes. Do we really have a shot in hell at a relationship here?
