Yeast Infection on Dog’s Paw

My dog has a bad habit of licking his paws and until recently it hasn’t been an issue. Yesterday when I came home I noticed he was limping and when I went to examine his paw, it was red, swollen, and there was a yellow discharge in between the pads. All signs point to yeast infection.

I have since put a cone on him and given him a bath/applied antibiotic ointment. My question is: how often should I be cleaning the discharge from his paw, and how? I searched everywhere and couldn’t find anything.

I’m trying to get him into the vet but the holiday weekend is making that impossible and all local urgent cares are only seeing pets in critical condition. Any advice would be very much appreciated.
