Dog restless at night?

My dog is a 9 year old shih tzu havanese mix. I love her dearly, more than anything. She used to sleep in my bed a lot in the room I shared with my brother. Last year we finished a storage room in the basement, transforming it into a bedroom so I could have my own space. My dog slept with me as usual in that room at first, then I went to college, and when I came back she stopped seeming comfortable in my room. There are weird things I noticed. She’s fine chilling in my room during the daytime, but at night she gets restless, moving around and panting. Sometimes she’ll fall asleep peacefully in my room but as soon as I turn the lights off she goes through the same behaviors. In that case, I usually open my door to take her upstairs to her pen (where’s she’s slept comfortably for all her live), but now when I take her up she’ll walk out of the basement then turn right around and try to go back, or if I put her in her pen she’ll find a way to escape and walk around. She has another bed in the kitchen (on the same floor as the pen) that she’ll sometimes be satisfied with but I just don’t understand all this behavior. I had some theories about my room specifically—it used to be a storage room, as I said, so the furnace is like right next to my room, and I assumed all the noise it makes at night was what was bothering her, but I’m not sure. We called the vet to schedule an appointment but they haven’t gotten back to us yet. Other than some small, minor things that naturally change with age, she’s otherwise just as energetic and cheerful and friendly a dog as she’s always been. But this one thing really really worries me.
