Help! How do I convince my boyfriend to let me get a cat?

I've wanted a cat for awhile now, but I was never in a good living situation. Now my boyfriend and I own a decent size house together and I really want to get a cat. My boyfriend outright refuses. After a few arguments he sent me a long email from work explaining why he won't allow a cat to live in the same house as him. Does anyone have any good counter arguments I can make to his statements? I am hoping I can still convince him.

Points he made in his email

1. Animals don't belong in a house, cats are worse than dogs in this regard.
2. I don't want my clothes covered in cat hair, or cat hair on my furniture, or cat hair in the air or my food. How do you propose you will be able to keep that from happening?
   (We can't really close off any of the house except a bedroom or bathroom due to floorplan)
3. The litterbox will stink, I know you may think otherwise, but any house I've ever been in with a cat smells horrendous, these animals stink, and no amount of scooping litter is going to make that smell go away.
4. How do you plan on keeping the cat off the furniture, or bed, or closets after it tracks it's own shit and litter out of the box?
5. There are a lot of people who would no longer want to come over and visit, and certainly not eat, at our house if they know we have an inside cat. Do we just tell them too bad?
6. What are you going to do when it destroys something? What if it's something expensive of mine/ours/yours? Am I just suppose to accept that and say oh well?
7. Are you going to be the one to pay or replace the carpet and flooring when it pissses where it isn't suppose to? You can't scrub cat piss out, I already am aware of the enzyme cleaner, and i'm telling you now it doesn't work. The only solution is to rip up the drywall or flooring completely.

He then goes to tell me how the only benefit at all from a cat is having something to pet and that he will just buy me a pillow or a stuffed animal.

I don't know, I love my boyfriend but I just really want a cat, are there any good counter arguments for this? I don't really know what to tell him about the cat hair other than yeah you might get cat hair on your stuff, but it's worth it. Can anyone else give me good responses?
