My cousin's cat is still affected by sedation after almost 48 hours - any thoughts/advice?

Background: My cousin took her cat to the vet because he wasn't eating or drinking - plus he threw up and generally wasn't feeling well. It turned out he had a high fever and there's something in his tummy that's causing these symptoms. The vet said this wasn't an obstruction yet and he's trying to pass it... but it would be a good idea to try to flush it out. Well, he was very upset and was wiggling around so they had to sedate him. The vet said they weren't able to flush it out because the needle kept popping out (or something like that - they weren't able to do it for some reason) so they gave her the option of keeping him there overnight or bringing him home. She chose the latter.

Present time: It's been almost 48 hours and he's still obviously affected by the sedation. His eyes are squinty and his mouth is a little bit open (no drooling though!). His pupils aren't dilated either. He just looks.. very high. He hasn't eaten any food even though we've given him meds for his appetite. But he is drinking some water and has peed. The peed is yellow too so his PH balance isn't off. He isn't wobbling when he walks but is obviously not his normal kitty self. My cousin is extremely upset. He still loves pets and kisses but I'm concerned with his lack of appetite and the fact he has something in his tummy that's hurting him and now there's this!

(p.s I'm pretty sure the object is a ball of feathers because he catches birds a lot cause he never eats human food or random objects. He's a very picky eater so the only thing I can think of is feathers).

Question: I think it's just taking a longer time to wear off for some reason but my cousin is freaking out. So can ya'll give me any advice or thoughts on this situation? Is this normal or should we take him back to the vet?

TLDR: Kitty was feeling unwell from an object in his tummy, went to the vet, got sedated, and is still affected by sedation almost 48 hours later - is drinking water and peeing but not eating. His mouth is hanging open (no drool) and eyes are squinty, pupils are not dilated
