I am not here to talk bad about the company that made the product. My dog is fine now and I am glad that I was paying attention and reacted so quickly.
I have a male all american pitbull. I gave him a topical flea medication, a brand I have used before on a friend's dog. Unfortunately my dog had a sever allergic reaction, in less then 10 minutes.
I rushed my dog into the bath tub.. I bathed and rinsed him 4 times, for almost an hour to make sure the medication was not on his skin. I gave him 100mg of benadryl and put aloe Vera on the affected areas. After an hour my dogs skin looked much better, And he is doing fine.
I did not know until tonight that the Environmental Protection Agency is responsible for the control of topical flea medication on animals because it is a pesticide. If your animal has an adverse reaction to any flea medication, please contact the EPA through their website.
Not enough people report these incidents. And I have heard many bad stories about topical flea medication. The more people report these incidents, the more likely they are to look into these products. So please if your or someone you know animal experiences a bad reaction to topical flea medication report it to the EPA.
