My dog is overweight and my mom is contributing to it, actively sabotaging my attempts to put him on a diet. HELP

I'm sorry this is very long, but I'll add a TL;DR after. I just want to know what I should do or if a couple pounds overweight is even worth going through all this trouble. Here's the story so far:

My mom has been giving my dog human food basically since we got him as a puppy. (He's a 4 year old Havanese dog) He doesn't eat any dog food except for sometimes when he's upstairs in my parents' room when everyone's going to bed.

Recently my dad and I took him to the vet for a check up and the vet there said he was overweight by a few pounds. (I think she said 4 pounds overweight?) We told her that our dog only eats human food. She went on to tell us that we should be giving him dog food (makes sense) and only give him human food as a snack every so often.

So when I get home I tell my mom that we're gonna try to get him to eat dog food instead of human food. So far so good. The next morning my mom cooks him left over chicken from dinner and puts it on a plate right next to the dog food bowl. And of course our dog eats the chicken instead of the dog food. I basically give up after 3 days of trying, because at this point he's getting homemade breakfast, lunch, and dinner with bone treats in between and there's no way he will even take a bite of the dog food I'm trying to get him to eat.

This morning my mom asked me to give him his second bone of the day because he was begging her while she was doing things on the computer. I tried to stand my ground and explain to her that our dog was overweight and that giving him multiple dog bones per day is a horrible idea, but she just kept insisting I get the bone. She essentially said 'if you dont get the dog a bone I am going to start screaming and ruin your Sunday', so I decided that it just wasn't worth it and gave the dog another bone.

Now, just before I went to bed, I tried to explain again how he is overweight and that we need to give him dog food instead of treating him like Garfield. She just denied he was overweight, citing our dog looking skinny after getting washed as evidence. She called the vet a liar and started to raise her voice again, basically doing the same thing she did before when I brought this up.

TL;DR: My dog is overweight because my mom keeps giving him human food and dog treats. Despite my best efforts, she continues to deny his extra pounds are real and yells at me whenever I bring it up.

Are these couple pounds something to worry about? Should I even bother convincing my mom that my dog is overweight? If so, how do I convince her? I just need help from you all. Any advice is appreciated.
