TLDR; I need to find a way to leave the relationship but take atleast some of the animals we share.
Been in a long term relationship that has turned sour. 3 cats 3 dogs. The dogs and 1 cat were there before I came into the picture. Gf hated the cat (from a previous relationship she was left with the cat. Said how she wanted to get rid of the cat etc). Cats are all indoor and are limited to a 1 story 3bed/2bath home.
After a year we rescued two sibling kittens for the first cat to have kitty friends. It was supposed to be only one kitten but saw there were only two left and I couldn’t separate them.
Fast forward to now, 6 animals, not enough room in the house and a toxic relationship calling for me to reevaluate my situation. If I leave I want to take atleast the two kittens & possibly the third (OG) cat that she refers to as the “devil cat”. Except there’s a few dilemmas.
The cats are registered at the vet in her name.
They’re not updated on shots. (She doesn’t believe in taking them to the vet for annual check ups, because they are indoor cats)
The microchips are registered in her name.
The microchips MAY be expired.
The only reason they are registered in her name is because I moved in with her so we used her address and contact information when we got them even tho they were equally ours.
How do I get out without causing unrest but saving some of these poor animals and giving them a better life?
I don’t have access to the microchip login and the only way I can transfer ownership through that is by having some sort of paperwork from the vet with my name on it.
How can I get my name on the vet paperwork?
