I'm not that good of putting words to text but I will try to tell my story as clearly as I can especially considering I'm going through a lot of emotions at the moment.
A bit of background: My mom and dad live in Florida and I live in NYC.
Earlier this morning I received a text from my mom saying that she had to rush our dog ( Pekinese, for those wondering) over to the vet at 2am because he was walking around in circles and howling as if he were in excruciating pain.
My mom and dad take him to a veterinary clinic that's open 24/7.
The vet told them that there was nothing he and the staff could do for him because he was at an age (18) where nothing would help.
The vet let my mom know that they could euthanize and cremate the body.
My mom agreed but she did not want to keep the ashes.
When she told me this, I could not understand why she didn't agree to keep the ashes. I was willing to hold those ashes. I am livid.
Her reasoning is that she doesn't want to be reminded of death and decided against keeping them.
I need some perspective here because I would've been more caring for our dog even in death than just leaving it with the vet.
Am I wrong to be pissed at my mom to neglect family like that?
