Should I get a guinea pig?
I am a 22F and I live in an apartment. I got a fish a couple months ago to help with my depression and anxiety and it has really helped I think. Having something to take care of and put your energy and affection into is so satisfying. I was on the edge of slipping into deep depression again and my sweet little fish has helped as silly as it sounds.
I would really love something I can cuddle and hold. I would do my best to take good care of of him/her. Since I do live in an apartment I do not have much space but I would move things around and try to make as much space as I could. I would try and get permission from my complex also if I could/should, I wonder if I got a letter from my therapist if they would allow it.
Does a guinea pig sound like a good pet for me? Would it be best to get two? I would just want it to be happy. Would I be able to take it with me when I visit my parents on weekends sometimes or would it be okay alone? I have so much love to give but I don’t want to give it a bad home if it sounds like not a good fit for me.
I would get a hamster but I don’t think they are cuddly. I loved having dogs growing up but I don’t think it’s the right time/place for one right now for me. A cat seems like it would need to wander around more and I’d need to involve my roommates more and I’d like to avoid that, idk if that’s true though. I’m just trying to think this through before I make any decisions.
