so my little girl is almost a year old, and she has a suuuper low drinking drive as compared to my older male tabby. maybe it’s because she used to be a street cat? i usually add in water to her dry/wet food meals, but apparently not enough!
about 2 weeks ago i was noticing some symptoms (frequently trying to pee, licking herself, but no pain and acting her normal happy self) and brought her to the vet where they diagnosed her with a UTI and gave me medication (like a 4 day one i believe). after that i could hear her peeing again and assumed it was better.
now, she’s exhibiting the same symptoms as before, but everyone in my area is closed over the weekend and for labor day. what should i do? drive a distance to an ER and get her treated and hopefully prescribed more medications? also, how can i prevent this in the future?
today i went to the store and bought a few hills urinary health wet food cans, aswell as a drinking fountain (that she actually went crazy for and started drinking a lot!!). i don’t think the new wet food diet will do anything within a day, though, so i’m gonna keep an eye on her to see if she pees at all tomorrow.
