Hello neighbours, I am reaching out for support with our one year old bengal cat coco. We got her from a reputable breeder at 12 weeks, she has been in great health since having her. We walk her on a leash, and feed her high quality raw and dried food. We play with her daily and she is fairly active. On Saturday morning we noticed she wasn’t acting herself and was not interested in playing much (very abnormal). Things quickly went down hill where she was only able to take a few steps and then had to rest. She was very unstable on her back legs and and couldn’t seem to control them. We spent 6 hours waiting for the emerg vet at princess and they said her vitals were stable. She was given an anti nausea shot and a fluids in her neck. We took her home with no change. She has been eating and has had a few BM’s which seemed normal. That night we took her to the regional walk-in and saw Jeff Kaufman who was fantastic… he had some ideas and gave us some anti-inflammatoires, but again vitals were great. I slept with her on the floor last night and have spent the entire day with her trying to make sure she is eating and drinking. She’s eating a normal-ish amount and is only taking water from a syringe. She is showing some signs of playfulness but is still very weak on her back legs. The little walking that she is doing is clumsy and is a “planted gait stance”. She doesn’t just walk on her paws, but uses the whole back of her leg. She is not able to support herself on her hind legs snd needs help getting in snd out of the littler box. I have been doing a ton of reading and research and it doesn’t seem to be diabetes. We also didn’t witness her getting injured (that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen). She responds to slight pulling on her legs and does not seem to be tender anywhere… I searched for ticks or bug bites and didn’t find anything. I’m wondering if maybe it’s a neurological issue from a nerve pinch (trauma) or some sort of viral issue (suggested by a neighbour who’s cat experienced something similar in the neck). We are desperately trying to help coco get on track with some sort of treatment plan and are really hoping someone out there could help based on professional or personal experience. Thank you in advance for your support!
