With the support of my family, I’ve been thinking about adopting a kitten. I live with my parents and their 3 dogs, a Newfoundland (8) Irish Wolfhound (5) and a Cocker Spaniel (9mo).
My concern is our Irish Wolfhound, she’s a little crazy and likes to play rough with both other dogs. I’m not sure how she’d react to a kitten given she was terrified of our Spaniel when he was first brought him home, but she’ll now run around with him like he’s her size and nip him when he annoys her.
We have a big house and a big garden for the dogs (because of where we live I’d need an indoor cat anyway for their safety), so I’m thinking the upstairs could be a safe place away from the Newf and IW just in case, though obviously we can’t force a kitten to live in only the upstairs of the home.
I’m just wondering- with bigger dogs and ones with such strong hunter instincts- is this destined to go horribly?
