Hi all, I am foster-to-adopting this beautiful cat. She has been in another foster home for 2 years where she has never pooped outside the litter box. There were too many cats there lately and she wasn't happy which is why I took her in.
She had a parasite last week that I gave her medication for, I assumed that's what was causing her to poop outside of it since she wasn't feeling good. I've been adjusting her diet and she finally had a pretty solid poop this morning, but still outside of it.
I disinfect + use enzyme spray on the whole floor each time.
She pees in the litterbox fine, but doesn't cover it up (I can't remember now if that's normal or not for a cat). I got her a modkat litter box but have been keeping the lid open while she adjusts. One thing is she doesn't turn around in the litterbox and faces in the back corner while peeing
I really have no room for a second litterbox my apartment is small unfortunately.
I've had her about 10 days. She seems to be getting more comfortable here, purring, being friendly, playing a little, etc. She doesn't care at all if I'm standing right there or staring at her while she poops.
Should I give her more time? Is she just adjusting/getting over having indigestion? When will she realize her poops are normal lol. Any other ideas to try and encourage her to use the litterbox? Thanks!
