Hi, this is my first post so please correct me if I'm not doing something right.
I was trimming my 4 year old cat's claws as usual and I noticed that his thumb claw was split on both sides. The picture is all the same claw btw, just from different angles. It's hard to tell from the pic but it's split right to the nail bed. It's not red or bleeding but I know it's a sensitive area and if I lightly press on it then he vocalizes his discomfort. He isn't acting any different either, walking and cleaning normally.
Will it naturally grow out? I don't wanna trim it since I can't think of a way to fix it. I just carefully took out any dirt so it doesn't get infected. Should I go see the vet to be safe?
