Hi everyone,
For a bit of back story, I adopted a kitten about two months ago, a month into bringing him home I found out he had been positive for Giardia for quite some time and that he spread it to my other cat. The vet prescribed liquid Panacur for 5 days and said that should take care of it. Today I got the results back from the fecal, and the kitten is still positive (which probably means my other cat is too).
I feel so hopeless. I thought I did everything right. I cleaned my entire apartment with bleach, used litter liners that I threw away after each poop, wiped both their butts and paws, washed their bedding multiple times... I even bought a steam mop and steamed down every piece of furniture!! I just don’t know what I could have done wrong. I’m not sure what my vet will prescribe this time but my experience with the Panacur was horrible, it was almost impossible to get my cats to not spit it out.
Has any one had luck with a different form of medication when treating Giardia in cats? Or honestly just any advice for someone that’s going through this for the second time?
