Okay so I live in a small town, it's even called tiny town or new town, lol. But the town is inside another town, inside another county. It's hard to explain. You got travel thirty to forty minutes to get to the bigger town were you can shop and stuff. So I have had this happen before and seen it happen but the town is so small and up in the mountains people will bring their dogs and cats up here to drop them off hoping someone will just take them in.
Just two months ago someone let a chihuahua out up our way. That poor dog was covered in ticks, nails so long they were flat and when he walked on our floors all you heard is his tiny nails dragging. It was so sad. We got a hold of the county's shelter. They ended up getting him adopted.
Now we have a lab that is older, well trained and a very sweet dog that was roaming around looking for water. We take him in our home, feed him and get him water.
My husband and I have went house to house but no one knew anything. We made a post asking if anyone lost their black lab, all we have gotten back is if no one claims him I want him. Which is expected from Facebook. We didn't post his picture. He has a very distinctive mark. So if someone owned him they would describe that mark on his doggie body. We called the shelters, no one has reported him. Local police even said that the town thirty minutes away from us had a black lab roaming around that they were trying to catch.
I can tell his sad, he feels betrayed. I am trying to make him comfortable and happy as possible. I have four dogs of my own. He waits at the door non stop, not to just go to the restroom but as if he goes outside he will see his owners are out there. I even let him lead me around to see maybe his house was close by.
I am continuing working on finding his owners. It's been almost a week and nothing from the shelter, sheriff department, the neighbors, facebook, or craigslist. If you have any suggestions on how to make him feel comfortable that be great. I have four dogs of my own, which hasn't fully warmed up to him. Also I take him on long walks before, after work and before bed. I have tried a million names in order to figure out what his name could be, seeing he had no tags. I feel he isn't a runaway and someone did in fact let him go like the last dog we found. But again if there is any suggestions on how to help him adjust on the new surroundings that would be great.
