I moved myself and my two cats into an apartment about 3 months ago. My roommate has 2 cats as well who try to play and get to know my cats, even try bathing them sometimes, but my cats don’t budge and hide in my room all day. One of my roommates cats does “run up” to my cats and seems to try to “scare” them into staying in their room whenever they leave the room, so I imagine this is why they just gave up on coming out all together. This particular cat loves to be inside my room and doesn’t have a problem with them when she’s inside my room, but only has a problem with them when they try leaving the room. I’m not sure if she’s trying to play or being territorial or what.
I’m just really sad because I feel like they’re unhappy and bored. I want to make their quality of life better. Any advice? What should I do to make them happy? And how can I work on getting them to get along with the other cats?
Edit: I should say it’s more of a condo situation. I live in Chicago so most apartments are really just a full floor of a condo. So it’s not a super small space. About 1600 sq ft
