I’ve just gotten a new kitten yesterday afternoon. I have a dog already. she’s never been around cats before but she has been around other dogs. I’ve put up a baby gate and have kept them separate for the most part. i’ve introduced them in the same room face to face. the kitten is very tiny compared to my medium sized dog. my dog thankfully hasn’t growled or acted necessarily aggressive but she non stop wants to lick the kitten and chases after it if it goes in another direction. sometimes the kitten swats at my dog and has hissed a few times but my dog didn’t react aggressive to mainly just continues trying to lick it. if she sees the kitten over the baby gate she non stop whines and cries over it as well as when i go in the room where i’ve been keeping the kitten. does this seem like a good sign that they’ll eventually get along? will my dog eventually get over the excitement and extreme interest in the kitten?
