Is it ok to get a new lovebird immediately after my old one dies?

My 16 year old lovebird, Alex, just died yesterday at the vet’s clinic. I love him so much and his passing broke me. It utterly broke me and I don’t know how to cope with his death. He’s been with me for 16 years and i brought him to the vet because he was vomiting. He was just fine before the vet’s procedures, simply tired. But after the procedure and treatment, he immediately crashed and passed on. And the vet had the audacity to tell me that my pet would’ve still died at home if I never brought him to her. I feel like I’ve betrayed my baby boy and I couldn’t stop crying since his passing. We just cremated him awhile ago and immediately went to look at baby birds to get over my sorrow. Looking at baby birds made me feel the slightest glimmer of hope and I feel like i need to feel love and care for another lovebird, the way I cared for my Alex. Do you guys think it’s too fast?
