Looking for advice on keeping cat from using dog door, and mitigating damage to screens.

I’m in the process of having a screened in patio built. I would really, really love to share this with my cat. The patio will have a dog door installed. Kitty literally cannot have the option to go outside into the yard as her survival chances are nil. Seriously.

I purchased a dog door with heavy flaps and 4 magnets per flap that I plan to add more magnets to, to make it too heavy for her to open but still accessible for the dog. Im left facing “what if she sits there and tries to dart out when the dog goes through? “ She never tries to go out when we let the dog out, and the door is often held open by the kids, with no efforts from her. I can’t leave room for error though. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have been advised to get an invisible fence to make a 1 ft or so section near the dog door undesirable for her. She’s not hard headed or pushy so I think she would only try it once. The patio is 400sq ft so she would still have plenty of room to avoid it and enjoy herself.

Does anyone have any other ideas aside from leaving her inside?

Also, I’m ok with replacing screens to an extent, but this cat has a deep passion for hunting bugs. Will an aggressive schedule for nail trimming be effective or is there some other thing I can do/buy that won’t cover the screens but will lessen the damage she can do?

Thanks so much for any advice. The idea of not sharing an addition so perfect for her seems downright cruel. I would really love to find a solution. Ty for taking the time to read this.
