Looking for suggestions for a herbivorous pet that can travel with me

Hello,

I'm trying to find a pet that is legal in Canada (I mention this because I looked at snails, millipedes and other insects, and all the species I found interesting were illegal), herbivorous (I always have tons of vegetable and fruit scraps and I'd like to have a buddy to share my food with), but also, that I can hold safely in my hands and can keep with me as I go take my walks and go visit some friends (not in my hands obviously, like in a pet backpack or leash or anything, depending on the pet).

So, in short:

- Legal in Canada

- Feeds on common the fruits and vegetables we find at the grocery store

- Safe to handle

- Can travel with me

I've been looking for hours but I honestly haven't found anything. I'm open to all species.

Does anyone have a suggestion?
