Vets prescribed the wrong number of tablets (or wrong dosage!) and not sure what I can do now.

Our vets have been previously great but can't help but feel they have been useless after this monumental f-up.

I took our lab in with mild skin inflammation on his belly/ears/tail. He was prescribed steroids (prednisole) 25mg for 5 days, 12.5mg for 5 days, 5mg for 5 days. We were given a tub of 5ng tablets to complete this course.

Now there is some basic maths to do here but I can tell you that 43 tablets are needed to finish the course, we were given 34. It should be noted that coming off of prednisone too fast can have severe consequences, so when we realised we called the vet up instantly. They seemed very nonchalont about the error and said they could prescribe more. When I asked is it the number of tablets that's wrong or the dose they said they assume its fine?

I have no idea how a controlled drug has managed to be delivered this incorrectly and with no rationale behind it. Am I right to be making a big deal of this? I now have a 3 hour round trip to collect the remaing tablets as I'm away this week otherwise who knows what will happen.
