Looking for some objective advice as I'm not sure where to go next.
My cat is 15, I took him to the vet last week, he had blood tests and they all came back good. He may have arthritis and gets waxy ears quite bad but otherwise he is healthy.
But the thing is he has progressively got worse and worse when it come to pooing on the carpet around the house and peeing on clothes and furniture. He has a litter tray and will use it, but sometimes if a door is left open in the study (for example) where he likes to poo, he will almost certainly do one. And it tends to be runny, even though the ones he does in the litter tray are solid.
He's also very dog aggressive (its clear that fear is the root of the aggression). I've had him since he was a kitten and he's lived with dogs all his life and always hated them (despite his brother who has no problem with them) but his behaviour is more aggressive these days than before and he hisses and growls and spits every time he comes downstairs. (The dogs steer clear of him at all times) I do think he's unhappy despite nothing in his life changing in the last 2 years.
What I'm leading to is that although he is healthy I'm not convinced of his quality of life when he has such a problem with the dogs and the fact he keeps defacating on the floor.
I love him so much, he's so special to me, but I dont know if this is behaviour I can keep on living with and whether it can be changed or whether he has a level of anxiety brought on by age and its going to carry on getting worse and it would be kinder to put him to sleep to spare him.
