Hey everyone, pretty much as the title says.
I used to work casually in rehab for wildlife (birds mainly) and I came into rearing a baby magpie recently, whose parents were killed.
As all things go, she's doing really well and growing and hopeful she'll not get too attached and be released back in the neighbourhood (or semi released, cage-free and allowed to come and go as she pleases, as magpies can become quite attached to rescuers.
Anyway, back to the question.
So, I have two dogs, a Jack Russel and a Dane x Boxer who are really well behaved around other animals and the bird is no exception. They just watch her and sniff and nudge her with their nose till she squarks and they run away with their tails between their legs or look at us as like they're saying "What the hell is this thing doing and please make it stop!"
So since bringing the magpie home, I've noticed that they have started making a slight chough/chokeish sound, not all the time just randomly.
Could they be having a "hayfever" or allergy from the magpie?
She's been washed and treated for mites and worms.
Any input would be awesome, so I don't panic and end up forking out a massive vet bill for nothing. or any specialty soaps or powders I could try to use if she is the cause.
Getting her feathers all pretty and ready for the day when she takes her first flight.
