We have a beautiful 1 year old tabby cat. We adopted her when she was 6 months old and she was quite snuggly as a kitten. Fast forward a couple of months and she wouldn’t sit on me at all. She doesn’t mind being carried by both of us but will never ever settle in my lap. When I would go to bed and was out of eye shot she would jump on my boyfriends chest and he would stroke her belly and she would purr and fall asleep. If I were to go into the room and catch her in his arms she would meow at me then quickly jump out of his arms (literally as if I’d just caught them cheating) which was hilarious to us both but also quite interesting. Now she always and only goes to him when we’re sat on the sofa and is now okay with me seeing them canoodling next to me. On the other hand she has always and still does wake me up with head bops & purrs but also sometimes bites on my chin at least once a night just so I can walk her to her food bowl and watch her eat and she will purr for me to stroke her whilst she’s eating. She never does this with my boyfriend and days when I’m at work she won’t even bother him for food she just goes to him for cuddles and strokes. Then as soon as I walk in the door she chirps at me to follow her to her food bowl. She knows I’m the one who feeds her and he’s the one that gets all the love. At first it was hard for me to accept this but now I’m just really curious as to why and wondering if I’ll ever get the cuddles he gets or if I’m just the food lady!
