I need closure on how my dog could have passed away

My dog passed away 5 days ago and has left me devastated. Her name was Roxy she was a scottish terrier she was 20 pounds and her age was 9 or older. I adopted her 7 months ago at a shelter. They told me that she was borderline cushing disease because her liver was producing too much cortisol than normal. Roxy also had skin yeast infections on her tail that never went away even with this shampoo they told me to use for 2 weeks. Roxy legs were also very bow legged looked like boomerangs. At first I thought it was normal. Roxy acted a bit like if she was abused but im never gonna know and it breaks my heart. She would not like to be petted or picked up. But Roxy was an amazing dog and I loved her so much. She loved me so much and she would always follow me around and wag her tail only to me.

5 days ago she was acting normal the day she passed away. In the middle of the night she woke me up with her having diarrhea and vomiting but I put her outside. She's an inside dog but I left her outside and that was a mistake and I feel guilt. But she was throwing up outside and diaheria. In the morning I found her laying on the floor not moving her body at all just labored breathing. She was only moving her eyes and I broke down. I took her to the emergency vet when I picked her up she sounded like she was in pain as she let out a groan. The emergency vet took her in and they say her blood sugar was insanely low so they were giving sugar to increase it and iv. They said she was in critical condition. She was going to stay 2 nights I kept calling checking on her they said she continued to throw up and have diaheria. Then they said the vomiting has eased but she still had diaheria. Then she went into cardiac arrest and passed away. I didint ask the doctor on why because I was just in tears and wasn't thinking.

If you guys could give me any input on what she had because I wish I took her to the emergency vet in the middle of night and sometimes I blame myself. She was my best friend.
