My cat keeps crying after moving

I just recently moved from MA to NYC 3 days ago (yes I realize it was very recent and it will take time for him to adjust, I’m just worried) and my cat (7 Y/O) had a lot of room to hang out at my old house. Now I’m in a smaller apartment (a studio, not cramped, just smaller than what he’s used to) and I brought some things he’s familiar with: his favorite blanket, his bed, all of his toys, his old food dishes. He’s been behaving himself (eating, drinking, using the litter box) and exploring (he wants to go up higher now on shelves, etc) but he still howls/cries randomly while walking around checking things out, including trying to wake up my partner when he’s still sleeping (which is kind of funny I won’t lie). He’s also sort of easily startled already so he’s still getting used to the fact that other people live in the apartment complex so he sort of freaks out when he hears them outside in the hall.

I’m not sure if it’s because he was extremely close with my mom and misses her and their routine together? I’m trying to think of ways to let him know it’s okay other than establishing a new routine with him and giving him all sorts of attention (my partner babies him all day since he works from home).

He also had a lot of nature enrichment back at my old house so he could watch birds & squirrels etc out the window and now it’s just cars for him to look at (I’m on a high floor in my apartment & we can see the highway) so I’m worried he’s missing that as well.

I understand cats are very territorial and sensitive, so I just want to make sure this is normal and I want to know if there’s anything I can do for him to make him less upset, or if I just have to wait it out until he feels more comfortable?
