Just walked in the room and found my cat trying to paw and bite at something on the carpet, figured it was an earwig or something like usual but I decided to crouch down and take a look and it was 99% chance most likely an Arizona Brown Spider(the Arizona regional variant of the Brown Recluse). It was full grown and possibly the largest I've seen yet.
How concerned should I be? My cat was born and raised indoors and isn't the most skilled "hunter"... she seems to usually end up pawing at bugs for quite a while and trying to taste them. I believe the spider was still at least half alive when I interrupted her, but I couldn't tell and immediately pinned it with the foot of a chair to separate it from her until I could grab something to scoop it up.
I'm really concerned... I really don't want anything bad to happen to my cat. :( She's so innocent to the world outside of the house, she doesn't know to be cautious of bugs. She'll smack things around with her paws for quite a while... there's a very good chance she got bit. How dangerous are brown recluse bites to Cats? Are there any cases of confirmed recluse bites being fatal towards cats? etc... What should I do? This is my first cat ever and I love her to death. Hate to see anything bad happen to her.,, :(
