So I rescued a male kitten in the beginning of June who was in pretty rough shape outdoors. At this point, I would estimate his age around 6 months, maybe a little more. I’ll be honest, at first I truly didn’t have the funds to get him fixed right away, and at only 6 months I didn’t think it would be a big problem. Well, about a month ago, he started urinating outside of his litter box. After advice from people, I got him fixed on November 1st, 10 days ago. And this unfortunately has not stopped the peeing. His favorite spot so far has been my bed, i even woke up in the middle of the night once, soaked in his urine! He has also peed in my roommates bed & various places like a pile of clothes on the ground, bowls, on top of all my storage items under my bed, inside a friends board game box, the list can go on. Other than the beds it’s all random peeing. I have been putting diapers on him daily as I’m a full time student and work 4 days a week, I don’t have time to be doing laundry from him every day. Although I let him free when I’m home and watching him and I do still see him using his litter box to pee on occasion!! So what gives?
A few other notes: -I’ve crossed medical reasoning off the list (vet did a full urinalysis at time of castration) -There are a total of 3 cats in the house, one other male and another female, both males came in at same time, no new cats -4 total litter boxes in the house, I’ve even changed type of litter twice in the past month with no difference -bought a “calm collar” at recommendation of vet, seemed to be working at first, until he peed on my friends coat after day 2 no diaper
I don’t know what else to try! Can anyone recommend anything else? I can’t afford to keep him in diapers the rest of his life and I also can’t afford to keep replacing furniture and clothes due to him urinating on everything!! Thank you in advance!!
