We always had a lot of cats, there’s never been a point in my life when our family had less than 10 cats. Our cats are both outdoor and indoor cats because we live in a remote hill area. They all come in and outside the house all day long. We’ve had many different cats, but for unknown reasons there’s always at least one disappearing each year. We adopt every kitten we can find on the street, so there are always more coming.
We have 16 cats now. We’ve had these many before, or even more, but this is the most bad mannered generation of cats we’ve ever had. I would be the one to advice people on cats behaviour, but this time it’s me asking for advice. This started probably around 1 year ago by our youngest male. He was marking his territory everywhere and when he turned 1 year old we neutered him. Ever since it’s been a complete disaster.
After he started to mark his territory (still does), 4 other male cats and 3 female cats marking their territory all over the house. They are all neutered. I’ve never seen female cats mark their territory before, but well, they do it exactly like the males. Our walls, furniture, belongings, everything is damaged. Our house smells like a shithole. It’s embarrassing to even have guests over. And not only that they mark their territory, but they started to pretty much urinate normally in the spots.
And not only the ones which mark their territory, but other cats too. I think we clean urine up to 10-15 times a day. Everything is a mess. We bleach the area, but it doesn’t help. We bought some car repelling powder from the pet store, does nothing. It’s gotten so out of hand, any help would greatly be appreciated.
