My 5 year old lab mix just received a diagnosis of progressive retinal atrophy yesterday, and will be fully blind within 12 months. How can I help him transition? I’d also like any toy/other product recommendations if you have them.
I’ve been wondering about his harness in particular. I’ve been walking him on a front leading harness his whole life but I’ve noticed he has started tripping over the leash. I’m toying with the idea of switching to a harness where the leash attaches on the back, but I’m wondering if anyone has experience with a certain type of harness being helpful while walking a blind dog.
Also if you have any advice about moving frequently and how to teach your dog a new home please share! I’m a graduate student and my living situation is not very stable.
