Hi All
I am moving in (from UK to US) with my other half in March. We have been planning for years to get a puppy and are considering when might be the best time to do so. When I move in I will not be working for 2months ahead of our wedding and honeymoon.
This leaves us with two possible options:
- Get a puppy when I come
- Advantages: I can be home full time for 2months to be with the puppy
- Disadvantages: After two months we will be away for 3 weeks (we potentially have someone who could look after it during this period - but still not sure about leaving a puppy for so long, when so young)
- Get a puppy after the wedding/honeymoon
- Advantage: Not leaving the dog for an extended period of time
- Disadvantage: We will both be working full time, and it may be difficult to be home during the day
I would appreciate any feedback on what would be best for the puppy, anything else we may not have considered and any input from people who may have been in similar situations.
