I have three cats, two of them are siblings and the other is from a different family. They have all been in this house since infancy and the unrelated cat started to urinate outside of the litterbox on occasion every few weeks. This problem has become progressively worse and now I believe he urinates almost exclusively outside of the litterboxes.
The cat is male, a housecat and is around two years of age.
There have been multiple things we have tried already, including -Getting the opinion of a vet -Catching him in the act and punishing him (he knows it's wrong as he tries to do it out of sight and runs away when we catch him) -Getting a third litterbox on top of the other two
Does anyone know if there is a problem and if there's a way to stop it? If he doesn't stop then my family are going get rid of him.
