As the title says, I recently got a 4 y/o, really sweet German Shepard mix dog. She’s an awesome dog aside from the fact that she is curious about our cat and seems to want to play with her quite often. Our concern is that she might get to the cat or play rough and either accidentally or purposefully bite and kill her. The dog is not aggressive at all but she is a German Shepard and as such is much larger and stronger than the cat. We don’t feel safe leaving the dog loose around the house without anyone home to watch her and make sure she stays away from the cat. Even when we are home we have to watch her because recently too she chased the cat under the bed after the cat got close and then ran. I don’t really know what to do. We’ve had her for two weeks and can still bring her back to the shelter (but that’d be evil so we’d take her to a German Shepard rescue foundation with foster families), but it would be totally heartbreaking because she’s so sweet and such a good dog otherwise. I don’t know what to do.
