Hello!
I've recently moved in with my parents for a bit while I'm switching education programs and whatnot. I had to move away from my gf and am going a bit crazy being a 20-something year old male living with his parents. Since this is a new area and I'm not familiar with people here, I'm feeling a bit isolated (I'm emotionally fine, just a bit lonely haha).
I thought getting a pet would be a good way for me to feel like I have a connection with something and get comfort taking care of something else.
I've had a dog before, passed away years ago. Cats and Dogs are not a realistic option for me now financially and time-wise (I really want one, but will only get one if I can give it all the attention it deserves).
I thought maybe getting some fish in a small aquarium could be nice. I'd take care of them, it'd give me some good routine throughout my day, etc.
I've never had fish as pets before, and tbh I never really saw the appeal relative to dogs and cats (since you can play with them and cuddle, etc.)
So my question to fish owners out there, why do you like it? Any insight on the appeal you can only understand once you own fish?
TL:DR - Want a pet. Dog and Cats not a realistic option now. Was thinking a fish since relatively low cost and maintenance. But whats the real appeal of owning a fish?
Thank you for reading!
*Not knocking fish owners, just never had one and not sure what it'd be like having one.
