So first, I live just north of Indianapolis, Indiana since that probably makes a difference in the legality of this. Anyways, last week my 3 dogs got out of the house because I, stupidly, forgot to close the laundry room door while leaving for work and there's a doggy door in the back door. Our fence is broken and we haven't been able to fix it effectively, so it's incredibly easy for them to get out if they're not on their leads. Well we found out later that night that they were in the pound up the road, and since they were closed we had to wait until the next morning to pick them up. When we did, they told us that we could not get them back until we signed a form saying we will get them vaccinated, chipped, and fixed. The former two were already planned for, so whatever. However, the fixing was fine for our 2 male dogs, but we wanted the female to have puppies so we could keep one when she died. They are all currently being fixed, but my fiance is devastated that she won't get another little piper baby. Was this a legal thing for the pound to require?
