So my fiancé and I are thinking about bringing another cat (would be 2nd) into our home. We stumbled upon one that is set to be killed tomorrow (found out yesterday). Everything is time sensitive... we sent in our application for her. The thing is, I’m nervous about how she will act with my other cat. Apparently she lived with another cat and tolerated it but swat at it if it got too close. I really wanted to adopt a cat that could be my cat’s playmate.
I want to save its life but normally, there is like a trial period and shelters understand that you need to have it in your home for awhile before fully committing so it’s a good fit both ways. I’m nervous that this seems like a “fully commit no matter what happens” situation. We don’t get to meet her before committing... I am just hoping that if I absolutely cannot get the cats to get along, I would be able to give her to a home that would be better for her. I’ve never surrendered an animal and I obviously wouldn’t want to, but I’m just so nervous.
Does anyone have experience with this? Any advice is appreciated. I can post more info about this cat and/or my current cat specifically if needed.
