I'm so torn!

So my old (male) roommate and his girlfriend just moved out, taking the cat I had pseudo adopted with them without telling anyone. I'm pretty upset because I was pretty attached to the old boy and my cat (not even a year old yet; he'll be a year this April) is crushed looking for his big brother to play with. He's been running around the house since this morning, yowling sadly in what I can only assume is his attempt to find his buddy. My boyfriend and I stopped by Petco today to pick up some stuff to treat our bedroom for fleas and he wandered over to the adoption area and fell in love with am adorable female calico named Bayleaf.

Bayleaf is a year old and playful as shit. She's actually so energetic that no one wants her and she's been in the adoption center for over 6 months now because she plays a bit rough. I asked an employee about her and none of the employees like her much either because they say has way too much energy. Personally, I think she would be perfect for our little guy because he's very high energy and LOVES to play. He's neutered, microchipped and up to date on his shots and flea medication and so is she, well, spayed for her, obviously. She seems so perfect for us, as we prefer active, loveable kitties who seek out humans for affection and love.

But my other roommate (who has an ungodly amount of pets she doesn't care for) doesn't want us to get another cat. I'm inclined not to care, since the cats aren't going to leave my bedroom anyways... unless she opens my bedroom door and LET'S MY DAMN CAT OUTSIDE WHEN I'VE REPEATEDLY TOLD HER NOT TO BECAUSE HE'S AN INSIDE KITTY. I hate that she does this and blatantly disregards my wishes about MY pet. Should I get a second kitty anyway? The girl at the store said she was going to be sent elsewhere soon if she wasn't adopted within a month... I'm scared to know what that means for that sweet baby.
