Background: SO and I have two cats (He and She, neutered/spayed) that were abandoned by their previous owner (not sure if they had same owner). They stuck around the neighborhood, hung out together and some neighbors, myself included, would feed them. Other feeding neighbor moves away and now we're moving away so we decide to take both of them to be part of the family. We figured they were outdoor buddies and we couldn't separate them.
Problem: family has been together for 7ish months now, kitties are indoor only. They have a scratching post, scratching pads throughout the house, and toys. Boy kitty has always been kind of distant, not a cuddler, he's independent. She was skiddish but has warmed up to me (I'm "her person", Google told me). Problem is that maybe starting a few weeks ago, we have noticed a change in His behavior. We hear running footsteps and we go check, He has Her cornered. Or sometimes He swats at Her whenever She walks by, minding her own business. After the move, She warmed up to me, started jumping on the bed or on my lap while we watch TV, while He stays on the other couch by himself...figured he's not a cuddler. But now He seems jealous of Her? He would stay in the living room while everyone but Him would come to the main room, but lately He has been coming to bed, get pet, then sleeps on the floor (still in the room, not in the living room).
Any advice on how to stop His bad behavior towards Her? How to make Him not jealous? The only reason we treat them differently is because of their personalities, I didn't want to force Him to be a cuddler but I hope I didn't create this tense situation between them :( thanks!
