After 3 separate vets had no answers for me, I've decided to turn to fellow redditors. Boomstick (yes Army of Darkness), Boomer for short, is a 7.5 year old boxer/lab mix whom I rescued from a local humane society (DC) as a puppy. He's always been black with a white belly and some white on his toes. About six months ago, he started to develop white spots all over his body. At first, the spots were fur only, but in a short period of time he's developed alopecia on his muzzle and around his eyes. His skin where it was once black, like his mouth, has lost all pigmentation. Recently, the new white spots of fur have developed almost psoriasis-like patches of thick layers of skin only to shed in giant scabs. His paw pads have become rough and cracked and on more than one occasion, entire nails have popped off leaving only his quick exposed. He's also developed a slight tremor when he sleeps and when I pet his back, his entire torso shifts toward my hand, leading me to think it's also a nerve issue.
He eats Pedigree food from washed plastic bowls and this hasn't changed since I rescued him. Fresh water all day. He doesn't have any habit of eating things he shouldn't in the house like shoes or plastic and although he spends a lot of time outside, he doesn't go after dead animals or stagnant water. His demeanor has been as playful as ever and he doesn't whine in pain. He does not have mites and blood tests have come back normal. No weight loss. He has been on a special Rx bath and antibiotics for a month, but no changes have come about.
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Any and all help is welcomed.
