New kitten + roundworms = worried

An adorable stray kitten showed up on my doorstep a few weeks ago. She’s super sweet, and I’ve wanted a cat for years. After looking for her owner for a while, I’m pretty sure she’s here to stay.

Took her to the vet earlier this week, and came back with Advantage Multi for fleas. Gave them a stool sample on Thursday, and they said she had roundworms, but to just apply the Advantage Multi, and they’ll check her again at her next appointment in March.

Now. This is my first cat, and first non-childhood pet. I love her to death already, but I have some pretty significant health-related anxiety and emetophobia on top of that. I’ve spent far too many hours on Google, worrying that I, too, have roundworms.

Reasons I’m worried:

  1. I live in a one bedroom apartment, and being a cat, she goes everywhere. The table, my bed...am I doomed? (I’ve obviously washed the sheets since she was diagnosed, but still - she was all over before I washed them.
  2. I’ve definitely cuddled her a lot, and she’s nuzzled my face.
  3. My husband accidentally dropped my keys in the litter box last week, but was running late for a business thing, and I’m pretty sure we forgot to wash them. We keep the litter box pretty clean, (and it was empty when it happened.) Still super grossed/freaked out.
  4. Worms are starting to come out. Found them in her poop (once on the floor because she didn’t like her new litter...) and hanging off her butt.

Basically — any tips/reassurance? Also, can I still hold/touch her while she’s infected?
