Hey guys! Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but r/petsmart is pretty dead.
Long version:
I worked at Petsmart for a little over a year. Half as a Cashier half as a Early Morning Stocker. I left due to family reasons and I basically had the manager beg me to stay because I was a hard worker. He said he put a note in my file that I was "preferred for immediate rehire" or something like that? Now it's been about 2 years since I left, and I'm having trouble finding another job, so I've been thinking about going back to Petsmart while I continue my job search.
A new one recently opened up about a block away from my house! This one (unlike the previous Petsmart I worked at) has a doggy daycamp in it and they're hiring for that position.
Here's how I break it down in my head.
Cashiering was pretty neutral, I didn't love it, didn't hate it. Customers could be awful, but mostly they were fine. I would go back to this position but I wouldn't prefer it.
Early Morning Stocker was awesome. I loved the exercise, and no customer interaction. Plus you got the satisfaction of watching a task get completed. However, SO's job goes until 8pm or later everynight. That kinda sucks because when she gets home we usually stay up another few hours and watch Netflix or play some games. Having to get up at 5am every morning would kind of put us at off schedules. So I'm not really wanting to do that.
Lastly Doggie Day Camp. This is a bit of an unknown for me. On one hand I had a friend who worked at a similar place (not at Petsmart though) and she hated it (although she's a cat person and it sounded like it was poorly managed) and on the other hand, I absolutely love dogs and the thought of being paid to hang out with dogs all day sounds pretty dang cool!
TL;DR: I'm thinking about going back to working at Petsmart, and I'm not sure if I should do Doggie Daycamp or not? Does anyone with experience know about the pros and cons of working there?
Thanks in advance!
