We found a very rare breed of cat out on the streets in front of our house. She is very pretty and her fur looks like it had gotten a nice trim a few months ago. However, she is dirty, her tail is in knots, and the tip of her eat looks chewed off. We assume she has been abandoned by her owners.
We are thinking of taking her in but she is kinda hard to approach. She will hiss lightly when we approach her, but then will come up and cuddle and then roll over on the floor playfully. But anytime we approach her, she hisses which makes us nervous she might have rabies.
At the moment, we are leaving food and water for her. We had our own cat interact with her; he does not seem to mind her but if she gets too close he will give a warning hiss and she immediately backs off. We are thinking of taking her to the vet and having her cleaned up and vacinnated eventually.
Is there anything else we should be doing/ considering? Thanks
