I am introducing a new kitten to my dog. I decided to try feeding small treats to the dog while the kitten was in my lap to associate him with a positive experience. They’ve been gradually getting better. Instead, the kitten started getting puffed up and aggressive as I was feeding treat after treat to the dog. Then the kitten started meowing and hissing and losing his mind. In turn, the dog went nuts trying to get to the kitten. Did the kitten think I was being harmed by the dog while hand feeding, and he was trying to defend me? I’m very confused. Kitten is normally non-reactive towards the dog and has even tried to play.
